Gulla Jónsdóttir designed Kimpton La Peer Hotel as an art-filled, residential retreat rooted in the creative character of West Hollywood’s Design District. Across its 105 guest rooms, suites and social spaces, natural materials—including concrete, leather, white oak, plaster and bronze—are paired with sculptural custom furnishings and site-specific works by artists, photographers and poets. The result is a sleek yet inviting environment that reflects Jónsdóttir’s nature-inspired aesthetic while celebrating the neighborhood’s distinctive mix of art, fashion and design.“This project is particularly dear to me, as it is the same location as the studio I started in 2009. We have taken it step by step through careful consideration of the neighborhood, with fellow artists and artisans installing a piece of their energy and soul in the project.
